Hey, If The Irish Get It We Should Too!
Just in case you aren't aware or haven't seen it in your Trending News Feeds, the High Court of Ireland recently held it to be Constitutional that unborn children have basic rights! Rights beyond just the "right to life". Rights that are to be taken seriously.

This is especially encouraging to me in light of the recent interview Hillary Clinton gave to The View:
You see, saying that unborn children do not have rights under the Constitution makes it possible for the horrific scenes like what we find on Law and Order: SVU. Makes it possible for abusive fathers, fiances, or boyfriends to get away with killing their unborn baby. Makes it possible for rapists to cover up their crime. Makes it possible for abortion to continue, un-monitored, clearing the way for more post-abortion syndrome. (Oh, wait, it's PTSD - if we're going to be politically correct. Excuse me.)
We have enough of all those horrible things going on in our world without the added thought that unborn babies have no rights under the US Constitution. But let's take a quick look at the Constitution:
All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws. (Amendment 14; Section 1)
Well, now the question is: When is a person a person? And that's where it all hits the fan, so to speak. Because, you see, different states define personhood differently. Some say that a person isn't a person until it has been born and takes it's first breath. Some say that a person is a person at conception. Some say that a person is a person when it can feel pain in utero.
But what does God say about when a person becomes a person? Because, let's face it, He is the ultimate Authority on matters like this....
God, investigate my life; get all the facts firsthand. I'm an open book to You; even from a distance, You know what I'm thinking. You know when I leave and when I get back; I'm never out of Your sight. You know everything I'm going to say before I start the first sentence. I look behind me and You're there, then up ahead and You're there, too - Your reassuring presence, coming and going. This is too much, too wonderful - I can't take it all in!
Is there anyplace I can go to avoid Your Spirit? to be out of Your sight? If I climb to the sky, You're there! If I go underground, You're there! If I flew on morning's wings to the far western horizon, You'd find me in a minute - You're already there waiting! Then I said to myself, "Oh, He even sees me in the dark! At night I'm immersed in the light!" It's a fact: darkness isn't dark to You; night and day, darkness and light, they're all the same to You.
Oh yes, You shaped me first inside, then out; You formed me in my mother's womb. I thank You, High God - You're breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration - what a creation! You know me inside and out, You know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, You watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before You, the days of my life all prepared before I'd even lived one day.
Your thoughts - how rare, how beautiful! God, I'll never comprehend them! I couldn't even begin to count them - any more than I could count the sand of the sea. Oh, let me rise in the morning and live always with You! And please, God, do away with wickedness for good! And you murderers - out of here! - all the men and women who belittle You, God, infatuated with cheap god-imitations. See how I hate those who hate You, God, see how I loathe all this godless arrogance; I hate it with pure, unadulterated hatred. Your enemies are my enemies!
Investigate my life, O God, find out everything about me; cross-examine and test me, get a clear picture of what I'm about; see for Yourself whether I've done anything wrong - then guide me on the road to eternal life. (Psalm 139, MSG)
You see, if a person wasn't a person from the moment of conception, why would God inspire David to write this psalm, teaching how God formed him in the dark places. How God knew him before he was even born? How all his days were numbered even before time began?
Science proves that from the moment of conception, life - new life - has begun. New life that has it's own unique DNA code. New life that has a wonderful chance at living this thing called life. New life that is its own entity, not a parasite to something or someone else. New life that deserves to be protected during every stage of life.
I am quite proud that the High Court of Ireland has recognized the special protection the unborn need in today's world. Legal protection because they can not speak up for themselves. The silent ones that are ignored and cast away. Now I wish our government would recognize this, as well!
