Please Be Informed: Hitler Was Right When He Said...
So yesterday afternoon while it was raining and we didn't have any clients, I got to reading up on my pro-life emails. I try to read them during lunch, otherwise I'd end up with an email account full of pro-life news articles that never get read....
I made it down to one particular article, which was also the subject line for the email, entitled "Obama Administration Wants to Allow Scientists to Make Human-Animal Hybrids." .... And my initial reaction was:
HAVE THEY NOT LEARNED?!?!?!
If you'll remember, it was just last year that the expose videos regarding Planned Parenthood shocked the nation. Videos that exposed Planned Parenthood profiting from the sale of aborted baby parts "for the purpose of scientific study." They claimed the parts were harvested and donated (with payment only to cover the cost of containment and shipping) so that scientists can study the tissue and develop new treatments for diseases.

This all sounds well and good, but then you must realize that it's completely unethical. Their argument, in a nutshell, was "Well, if some good can come out of a hard decision, then it's worth it." And I call this hogwash. It reminds me of the age-old justification of legalizing gambling: we want to use the profits and taxes from gambling to pour back into the underprivileged and downtrodden. Reality: we want to exploit the poor who may be looking for a way out, a quick fix to their situation, so we'll offer a well-established method of addiction to keep them there, keep them dependent on the system.
And now our President and his administration have seen fit to reverse some of the limits placed on research scientists by the Bush Administration to allow said scientists to combine human and animal DNA to produce hybrids. And their reasoning? "Scientists at the University of California, Davis are trying to use pigs as “biological incubators” to grow human organs, according to the report." In other words, they want to use pigs to grow human body parts to make it easier for the body to accept transplants, to lower the risk of rejection by the human body.
Again, this sounds well and good, until you consider the implications. Splicing human DNA with animal DNA is a very dangerous road to walk down. It's one of those instances where, once you open that Pandora's Box, it's extremely difficult, if not impossible, to close it back. And it makes me wonder, did they ever watch the 2009 movie Splice, with Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley?

Splice is about a couple of famous genetic engineers that create a hybrid. We're not even told in the movie what all makes up the hybrid, which they name Dren; however, we do know that there is human DNA in Dren's genetic makeup. There is dissension among the scientists, Clive and Elsa, from the beginning of Elsa's decision to move on to "human trials." Clive, it seems, has some sense of the immorality of this dangerous idea, but is steamrolled by Elsa and caves.
By the time we come to the end of the movie, all kinds of unethical, immoral, and just plain evil acts have occurred. I know it's a movie; it's science fiction. It's a story; but how many times have we written and read stories whose intent was to warn? Isn't that why Lord of the Flies was written? Isn't that why Utopia and The Giver were written? Isn't that why we study history - to know what has happened and strive not to repeat the bad in our future?
Part of what we learn in Splice is that, even if we mix docile creatures' DNA, we don't know what will come of it. We don't know the particulars of how God planned each of our species differently. That, alone, remains with our Creator. We may have mapped the human genome and may be able to trace traits back to specific genes, but that doesn't mean we understand enough to begin playing God in this particular manner.

I firmly believe that an ignorant people are easier to manipulate. Adolf Hitler said, "How fortunate for leaders that men do not think." And he's right! We live in an age that has information at their fingertips, but we are grievously uniformed. Because of our ignorance, Presidential Administrations are able to lift bans on human-animal experimentation without worrying about how and if the populace will react.
This is why I wanted to write this particular post: not necessarily to shock or horrify by sharing this news with you, but to inform you of what's going on. By no means do I know all the particulars or details; nor do I want to. It is enough for me to know that this is happening.
We, as a nation, have lost the basic respect of life that is so crucial for a thriving society. This loss of respect is shown in this article and the actions of Planned Parenthood and other pro-abortion organizations. How can we expect God to bless us with abundant Life in Him when we can't even agree on when life begins? How can we expect to demonstrate the new life found in Him when we can't even accept that unborn children are living and have been given life by their Creator?
Oh, Lord, spare us! Spare us from the judgment that is sure to come! Open the eyes of our leaders that have been so blinded by the enemy and hatred and greed to see that Your way is the only way to true Life. Grant courage and boldness to those in leadership to not back down from defending the cause of the just. Have mercy on us, a fallen and sinful nation, and help us to return to you!
